Howdy (this is a U.S. way to say ‘hello’).
On this page I will put lots of B2 First exercises which:
1. If you are a student, you can use to improve your marks in the FCE exam.
2. If you are a teacher, you can give your students to complete in class or for homework.
B2 First Essay Exercises
Exercise 1
If it’s possible to work on computer, you or your students should:
- Become a paid member of this website so you can access all the exercises on this page.
- If you are a teacher and you have many students, email: admin@studentlanguages.com for membership discount codes.
- Watch this FCE Essay video and write down the important points in the appropriate boxes here (you will receive a copy of your answers via email).
- Read this essay question: and take 5 minutes to write a plan for it here.
- Compare your plan with my plan here. It doesn’t matter if they are not similar.
- Print this sample essay answer and correct any mistakes you find.
- Compare the mistakes you found with my critique.
- Complete this assessment scale template for the sample essay answer.
- Compare your assessment scale with my assessment scale.
- Update this form during future classes.

Exercise 2
If you’ve completed the B2 First Essay exercise 1, follow the steps below. If you haven’t completed exercise 1, stop preparing half-heartedly, go back up and complete it…tut tut you lazy beansprout 😉
- Read this essay question, and write a plan for it here.
- Compare your plan with my plan. It doesn’t matter if they are not similar.
- Print off and note down any mistakes you find on this essay answer.
- Compare your mistakes with the ones I noted here.
- Complete this assessment template for the example answer here.
- Is your assessment scale similar to my assessment scale?
- Update this form with any more tips etc. you find.
If you prefer writing by hand or you are a teacher and you want to print these exercises off as class activities, these ‘without computer‘ instructions might be useful.
B2 First Report Exercises
Exercise 1
If it’s possible to work on computer, this is what I recommend:

- Read this report question and write a plan for it in 5 minutes here.

- Correct mistakes on this sample report answer – it may be easier to print it off.

- Compare the last 2 steps with my critique and my assessment.
