FCE Use of English Part 2 Practice

Let’s practise using the strategy you learnt above with another exercise.

I want you to watch the next Live dictation video I made. You are going to write down the exercise which you then have to complete. Following the instructions in the video and writing down the exercise will be practising your English listening, writing, reading and pronunciation skills. The topic of the passage is tips for Speaking part 1!

Wow, Rory, what a great idea!

I know, I know.

Okay, so watch the video below and follow the instructions. Remember it was a live video, so I might talk to people who were chatting to me during filming. (Don’t worry, you’re not going mad):

Here is a copy of the dictation passage without the answers:

In part 1 of the Speaking exam, the examiner asks questions about you. These questions may be on topics such 0    AS     your likes and dislikes, your family and friends, your English studies, or even what you have 1                     doing recently. There 2                   be a question about the future or some other general questions. This part of the exam is designed to 3                   you feeling comfortable. I created a four step technique to help you prepare for this part of the exam. The first step is to think of questions related 4                   the topics I mentioned earlier. The next step is to prepare some answers to 5                   questions. You don’t want to speak for 6                   long or the examiners might view you unfavourably. I advise about 30 seconds per answer. You also 7                   not rehearse scripts before the exam. Next, I recommend getting someone you know to ask you the questions you have prepared in an exam setting. Finally, I recommend learning 8                others. There are loads of videos of other students practising Speaking part 1 exercises on my website.
