Greek Lessons in Chania – FAQs
I can already speak Greek, can I join?
You can tell us your level in the signup form and we will try to group you with a similar level student.
Why Not Face-Face Lessons?
- No travel time
- No driving/parking stress
- Learn at home – practise in town
- Easier coordination with my coaches to ensure punctual, high-quality lessons
- Gives Greek teachers the possibility to work online and travel/live abroad (just as we do)
Why Not One-One Lessons with a Private Greek Tutor?
Learning with another student allows you to practise with someone outside lessons…this is incredibly valuable and where you will actually make your biggest improvements. Your classmates live locally and we encourage meeting up outside of lessons to practise what you’ve learned that week. You can complete homework exercises together and improve and grow your confidence with your new friend both during online lessons and in the real world. I know when I see my non-Greek-speaking friends attempting to order something in Greek, it encourages me to do the same.
From my own experience, I can tell you that when you do 1-1 conversation lessons, a teacher spends a lot of energy concentrating on keeping the conversation going. However, when there are 2 students in a class, you can talk with your classmate, while the coach focusses entirely on your errors, pronunciation difficulties etc. The stuff that really matters! You get better feedback from a coach as they concentrate on the language while you stumble through your ‘kalas’ and ‘pos eisais’.
If you really would prefer to have private or offline (real face to face) classes, let us know in the signup form and we’ll see what we can do.

“In my personal life, I prefer staying with one or two other people rather than in big groups because I’m a bit shy and can have better interactions that way. This small group lessons help with that.” (Jonny, Sweden)
Why don’t you offer refunds or reschedules?
Our policy is no refunds as we need to guarantee the teacher’s pay.
A timetable is agreed at the beginning of the course, and even if notice is given, rescheduling is at the teacher’s discretion, as their schedules are often full and changes may not always be possible.
We appreciate your understanding — this helps keep lessons fair and consistent for everyone.
Can I do lessons on my phone?
We recommend using a computer or laptop. This will help with the functionality of the classroom and ensure you get the most benefit from the lessons.
Why not 60-minute Lessons?
If you’re anything like me, you say a Greek word 100 times and you’ve forgotten it 5 minutes later. 60-minute lessons are too long for beginners.
I want to understand my doctor who doesn’t speak English with me…
What if I’m not in Chania?
If you’re not currently in Chania but want to do online Greek lessons, complete the signup form anyway and let us know your situation.
